"A Good Man" Is A Short Wonderful Video About LGBT Youth Aftermath & Healing :)
This is a beautiful short animated film made by StoryCorps, about the conversation between two brothers who shared an evening of conversation. They and their 6 other siblings had survived a difficult childhood and had all become completely estranged from their parents. The narrator was the oldest brother who had been cast out of the family the night his father had discovered a love letter exchanged between his son and another guy... This son was literally abandoned in the forest... Somehow, he survived.
Years later, the phone rang...
This film gives us a glimpse into the unspeakable horror with which some children and teens are treated when their families discover that they are "gay" or "lesbian" or "bisexual" or "transgendered."
Reach out, be sensitive, be kind and be open. PFLAG is an amazing organization and this is an amazing animated short film. Thank you guys. May the dialogues begin... :))

Break the Silence! Stop Teen Dating Violence! Thank You, CDC Streaming Health!
As we kick off the summer, it's a great time to remember that preventing/reducing/stopping teen violence is a "learning thing."It's a shared responsibility and there is no such thing as "NONE OF MY BUSINESS." Smokey the Bear was right. "ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT FOREST FIRES." The "fires" of violence spark and burn and we all can work together to teach, model, defuse situations before they escalate, spark and burn out of control. These are our children, and they deserve the best guidance we can provide, right? This is a great video and tool to begin that discussion... grab a pizza and a teen (or two!) and watch it together. Ignore the eye roll :)) and carry on...

"I Will Not Be Silent!" Child Abuse Prevention Campaign- Thank you, CALM
This is a beautiful six-minute video media spot kicking off the "I Will Not Be Silent" Child Abuse Prevention Campaign of 2012. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. I am touched by how they have done this and expanded the focus beyond abusive behavior of a parent, a teacher or a coach. They have also included a few excellent parenting strategies and things to teach our children. All in less than six minutes? It's the power of the stories to empower all of us... Happy Tuesday!
