"The Science of Neglect" is a Brief Video from the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University: Brain Architecture's "Ground Zero"
This it the first of a series about the impact of neglect on our babies and young children. Neglect is the most common type of child maltreatment in the United States. It literally causes an immediate change in the development of the child's brain architecture and thus, alters the lifelong trajectory of their health and well being. Our community pays a huge price when we endanger the well being of our children- whether or not they are a part of our biological or familial relationship circle. The Center for on the Developing Child is a fantastic resource, to which I often return for updates and encouragement from my pediatric/public health "roots." :)) Happy Sunday!

Today, I am finishing up the galleys for "Busting 'Shared Parenting' Myths: The Use of Decision Trees in Evaluations & Interventions," our November 14th conference at the Biltmore in Santa Clara! We are delighted to feature Dr. Nancy Olesen, PhD as our Keynote Speaker. We are grateful and honored to welcome the Honorable Susan Bernadini, Presiding Judge of the Family Law Bar, onto our judicial panel, which will also include Judge Michael Clark, Judge Mary Ann Grilli and Judge Mary Greenwood. We will be challenging our 3 sets of panelists with questions about "how to" practical applications of the thorniest issues we have gathered from our "front line experts:" our interdisciplinary colleagues, members from Family Court Services, and the thousands of families we serve every year! There will also be a special update from the AFCC International Task Force on Shared Parenting! An international literature review will be presented (and available) in your materials. Continuing Education Units of all varieties available for lawyers and mental health professionals. Hope to see you there!
